I have been asked this question, in many ways from friends, from clients, and from family members. And my answer always comes down to a version of these things I know to be true. The thing is you can go around and around this, but to me if you're asking the question I'm willing to bet you already know the answer.
I love to read. Reading about new ideas, ways to reprogram your thoughts and beliefs, how to navigate the world of online marketing, how to run a business like a leader, these are my go-to's. I drink this stuff in and totally nerd out on it.
But in the summer months, I take a mental break. I focus on freedom and just letting someone else carry me away in their world.
One of the comments people say to me is "you seem so confident." And I've heard other people remark about other women, "She has a confidence about her, that's what makes her successful." As women, we hear this a lot and it's true. You do need a certain amount of confidence in order to gain success.
As women, confidence seems more like a luxury item rather than a standard. It's something that is only for the "chosen" and not for the rest of the people. But that's mostly due to our conditioning from our environment. It's not something you are just born with necessarily, but is learned. Many of us have learned to stifle our greatness or make ourselves shrink to be smaller. Because of that we are not taught how to be confident.
You may have heard about Masterminds or may be wondering if this is something only science nerds do! I recently came back from a Mastermind and was really blown away with how connecting with other powerful women was so abundantly supportive to my inner growth. It tapped into a deep part of my soul, so that I could come back home feeling more centered for my family and more passionate about my work.
I recently had a talk with one of my clients. She is a strong and confident woman, especially how she shows up on social media. She inspires people and has written really compelling content. She is vulnerable and raw at times and it can be hard to read, I’ll admit. But with each stretch in her being a woman, she has started to have success.
And that is what has offended people, apparently.
Have you ever gone to conference or an event where you get totally inspired and injected with excitement with all the possibilities your life? Think Tony Robbins or Lewis Howes. (read my post about The Summit of Greatness)
It's that time of year again, where Summer is coming to a close and the nip of Fall has touched our senses. You can feel the hints of the cool air as you step outside in the morning, while still having a warm Summer afternoon. It's definitely changing.
In Chinese medicine, the Fall time is all about "letting go"…
Do you ever have one of those days (hopefully not weeks) where nothing you seem to do works for you? You try one road and you get the door slammed in your face. And because you’re a tenacious person, you keep moving forward and try another avenue. But still the same thing happens, you get no traction. So you keep trying and but no one seems to notice all your efforts to get ahead or do more. Whether it’s your job, your “fresh new attitude”, or just trying to create momentum in your business, all your effort doesn’t seem to have much return. “The wind is knocked out of your sails", you feel dejected, and basically like nothing you do is working.
Do you find yourself ever doubting your greatness and who you were meant to show up as in your world? Yeah! Me too. It's so easy to go to the "comfortable" spot. When life is throwing a lot of "stuff" your way it's easy to let your priorities taking care of yourself fall to the side of a pile of shit that needs to get done. Especially if you have a great excuse like your dog is sick or your kids are throwing up. It's one thing to let it go for a day or two. It's completely another thing to get completely off track. Well, that's what happened to me.
