I am part of everything I have ever read. ~Theodore Roosevelt
To know me is to know that I love to read books. During the summer months, you will find me with a good beach novel, daily. This past summer, I poured thru over 10 books which I adored. I typically pick a theme for the summer and will only read novels. I don’t want to think too much and want to be entertained, while the summer sun is soaking in my skin. But my true passion is a book that transforms me. I am admittedly a "self-help" book junkie. You name most of the books out there, I’ve read them. Which is not to say that I don’t learn from them because, if well written, I almost always get a new message out of what I am reading.
I recently cleaned out a legitimate book stores worth of “old” self-help books from my storage room. Yes!! See I actually do follow what I dish out!! **Clean out the clutter to move the energy. I went thru each box and labored thru my college years, masters degree schooling, and beyond. It was so interesting to see what I had read, what is still relevant today and what I was attracting at the different periods of my life stages. Relationship books, while finding my love, children’s books, while my kids were young. I could actually see, physically, thru my library of books, that I was growing and learning so much throughout my entire life. Which has led me to this moment in time! I just love it! Today, I thought I’d share some of those books that are touching me right now.
1. Girl Code-by Cara Alwill Leyba
This book is awesome for the "femmepreneur". This is my word, for the feminine female entrepreneur. While I was searching and growing my new online business I thought two things, why don't women help each other in business? andI don't want to run a business like a man, not in an offensive way, but more because I am not a man. I think the "old" mentality was act like a man in order to be successful. I just never resonated with that. Why would I pretend to be something I am not, and then I found this book (or really she found me). I opened to the introduction and read there's this world of power playing females, "hey think positively, they support one another, and they truly believe they can have it all-and so can you." And I thought, YES! This woman Cara, gets it and gets it to the point of writing it out for you to absorb! If you are thinking of running your own business or are currently running a part of your business. Read this! As a woman, you will harness more of that powerful energy and use it to carry out your career the way you want.
2. Now or Never: Your Epic Life in 5 Steps by Alexi Panos and Preston Smiles
Okay, this book is like scary, ligit, "face-your-shit" kind of book. I absolutely love Alexi and Preston and the work they do! They run workshops all over the world, teaching The Bridge Method, helping people to uncover their deep-seated conversations about who they thought they were and help them to see it's just a choice. I am half way thru this one, but put it on my list because I have already had so many #Soulshifts. Get ready with your journal, a quiet space, and some tissues because if you really look at yourself, you may see you have not been that kind or self-loving. But the beauty of this book, they give you the tools to take responsibility, in a loving way. And you learn how to peel those layers off and start adding new empowering ways of living in your world with those around you. Transformation rules!!
3. The Crossroads of Should and Must- Elle Luna
This book is for the artist out there, who doesn't necessarily need words of wisdom spelled out in black and white, but rather color and pictures and thoughts plastered on a page. This book resonates with the creative ones. The message is simple, but profound: there is a monumental difference between what you should do and what you must. Read this, if not just to refer to, when you get off track. And remind you when you are doing something because it resonates with your authentic self verses the "rules" of others.
Use the links above and you'll head straight to Amazon so you can get a snippet of the books I mentioned. I hope this helps you on your journey towards empowerment and growth. Let me know what you think of these, if you get them on your Kindle (or whatever you like to read)! I would absolutely love to hear in the comments below. 💜 And don't forget to leave me some of YOUR favorites. I always love a good read!
